BHS Student Health Update:

The Benicia Unified School District is committed to ensuring our students are able to come to school, healthy and ready to learn.  For this reason, we are reaching out to our families to let them know that there have been many cases of Pertussis, also known as Whooping Cough in Solano County.  Whooping cough usually begins with cold-like symptoms, a runny nose, sneezing or a mild cough.  In 1-2 weeks, Whooping Cough typically develops into severe coughing fits, sometimes making it difficult to breathe.  The cough can last for more than ten weeks.  If your child has a coughing illness, please consider taking them to their healthcare provider to be evaluated.

Although pertussis vaccination is included in the routine childhood vaccination schedule, protection from the vaccine decreases over time.  For this reason, the Tdap booster is required for middle school aged children and recommended for adults.  If you or your child has not received the Tdap booster, please contact your healthcare provider to discuss the benefits of this vaccine.

Student Drop Off & Pick Up

The student drop off and pick up process has been restructured for the 2014-2015 school year to ensure the safety of our students, staff members, and guests.  Parents are now required to utilize the designated drop off zones located on Military West to reduce the parking lot congestion in the front of the school. We ask that you do not enter the parking lot to drop off students unless there is a need to do so.

If you are coming onto campus for an appointment or event, please enter the parking lot from the 11th Street entrance (the stoplight with blue brick crosswalks) and exit at Plaza De Oro. The one way entrance and exit is a change from last year.
