BHS Robotics Team Participates for the First Time

On Saturday, Dec. 13, BHS competed in our first ever robotics competition - Vex Skyrise at Vanden High School in Fairfield. BHS had 2 robots compete against 60 teams from all over the Bay Area. The students worked diligently over the course of the first semester (during class, lunch, and after school) designing, building, and programming their robots. Their enthusiasm and professionalism at the event was exemplary. Although BHS did not win the competition, we are extremely proud of their outstanding efforts.

Thank you to all who have supported the BHS Robotics program and CTE programs.

EcH2O Academy at Work

During the first semester, EcH2O Academy students mastered the Microsoft Office PROJECT program to create an electronic timeline for their rain collection and solar installation project. As the goals are or are not achieved in the designated timeline, the program adjusts the new completion date automatically, along with adjusting alternate goals that need to be completed per each phase. Students entered materials and specific goals needed within the larger project. The students also developed a project budget for approval, including a materials list, in Microsoft Excel. After this preparatory work, students began construction over Thanksgiving break, digging 300 feet of trench for water irrigation and electrical wiring conduit, building a solar panel structure, and hanging rain gutters.
