Cell Phones/Electronic Devices
Cell phones/electronic devices and their use have become a huge issue at Benicia High School. In order to respect the important work of the classroom and the teaching and learning environment, this document is to clarify the cell phone/electronic devices policy for the high school.
The policy is simple:
a. Cell phones must be turned OFF and put away during class time. Cell phone/electronic device use is defined as before school, snack, lunch and after school….Monday thru Friday.
b. If a cell phone rings or vibrates or is used anytime during class time, the cell phone will be confiscated.
c. If cell phone or electronic device is confiscated, it will be returned to the parent. If the cell phone or electronic device is confiscated a second time, the phone/electronic device will remain in the BHS main office until the end of the semester. If confiscated a third time, the device will remain in the main office until the end of the school year.
Students should accompany their parent when the phone/electronic device are claimed from the main office. There are certain times during the school week that cell phones may be claimed.
Please contact the BHS Main Office at 747-8325 for these times. Cell phones will not be returned during the school day. The school does not take responsibility for loss of personal property, including cell phones, I-Pods, or other electronic devices.
