Benicia Reads The Maltese Falcon
Come experience a virtual tour of the setting for The Maltese Falcon at the Benicia Public Library on Monday, March 31st at 7pm. For more details, see the attached flyer.
Digital Citizenship Workshop
Please join us for a parent education night on digital citizenship presented by the Benicia Police Department on March 19th from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Benicia High Performing Arts Building. This will give parents a chance to "know their internet child" and learn how middle and high school students and families can navigate the internet safely. Literature 1 Honors Placement Exam
The Literature 1 Honors Placement Exam will be held on Friday, March 14th at 1:30pm in Benicia Middle School's Talk Town. Students must sign up prior to the exam to attend. Students in eighth grade should talk to their English teachers for more information. You may also contact Mr. Heffernan at Benicia High School for more information.
Benicia Rotary Club Fundraiser
The Benicia Rotary Club presents Casino Night on Friday, March 14th from 6 pm - 10 pm at the Benicia Clock Tower. Proceeds will benefit BHS sports programs and the BHS Interact Club. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
BHS Site Council Parent Representative Election
The BHS Site Council has openings for (2) two Parent representatives to serve on the Site Council for a (3) three-year term. At this time we are seeking candidates for the 2014-15 school year.
Site Council meets once a month in Room A-107 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM. The Site Council is responsible for dispersing, when available, School and Library Improvement Plan (SLIP) funds as well as other categorical funds in accordance with state guidelines. The Site Council also monitors the implementation of the Single Plan for Student Achievement and updates the plan annually. Serving on the Site Council are the principal, teachers, classified staff, parents, and students.
If you are interested in representing the Parent population on Site Council, please download the self-nomination form from the BHS website under the "Site Council" tab, or pick up a copy of the form in the BHS Main Office. The application deadline is Monday, March 3rd, and the election will be held the night of Open House on March 27th.

2014 BEF Run For Education
Registration for the 2014 BEF Run For Education is now open, with discounted rates good through February 15th. Register or volunteer here or go to Earthly Nutrition to apply in person.
Are you planning on college next year? Would you like to apply for scholarships? For the most up-to-date information, check frequently on the BHS Website "Scholarship" page. It can be found be going to the "Departments" tab, then "Counseling".
